(Lesson Transcript)ConversaciónAlumno: Señora, hemos estudiado con toda atención lo que Vd. nos explicó del uso del subjuntivo, veo que no es tan difícil como pensaba. Maestra: No, amiguito, no es difícil, es muy diferente al inglés; pero tenemos reglas seguras para saber cuando se usa y cuando no. No hay que olvidar que es indispensable que haya dos personas. Una persona quiere que otra persona haga una cosa. Una persona hace una acción con el fin (el propósito) de que otra persona haga una cosa. Cuando una persona hace una acción con el propósito de hacer ella misma una cosa, no se usa nunca el subjuntivo; sino el infinitivo. Cuando una persona quiere ella misma hacer una cosa tampoco usamos el subjuntivo; sino el infinitivo. Vds. en inglés usan el infinitivo en los dos casos. "I want to enter." La misma persona que quiere, quiere entrar. "I want him to enter." Aquí una persona quiere que otra entre, también usan "to enter", como en la frase anterior; en los dos casos usan el infinitivo.
